Maureen with Pierre Poilievre
At a recent lunch in Three Hills, our Board member Maureen crossed paths with a visiting federal politician. Never one to miss an opportunity, she immediately started talking goats - sharing insights about our industry and the passion behind Alberta's goat producers.

How does a country "kid" get invited to appear in a production by a Calgary based movie-making company? Perhaps, a partial explanation is because he is a country kid, and a rural community network means that someone is likely to know someone who has what is needed to fill a need.
In this case, Sara Corry, Production Manager of North Country Cinema, who had earlier done film work in Orkney, asked if anyone there might know of a goat they could use. They in turn knew a friend, who knew Barry and Maureen Lewis of Balmaur Farms.
And so it came about that "Timmy the Kid" made a trip to Dorothy, AB to be filmed in a scene of a current production call "The Post". Written by NCC Director, Kyle Thomas, and based on letters from a family member, the story tell of an RCMP officer stationed to a remote outpost, and the romance that formed.
How Timmy fits into the plot is not clear at this point, but the cast and crew fell in love with him when he made his appearance on site on a rather cold Sunday evening of October 28. After several "takes" where he gets to run through the "romantic" setting and disturb things, he was duly rewarded with his grain, and returned to the mundane life back on the farm.
